I read once, that photographers should not document good friends weddings, as it could be too personal. I am glad, I did not stick to this. I would have missed a loving, emotional and fun Wedding. Yes, sometimes, I was close of putting the camera down and hug both of them, right after the ceremony for example or at the toast. But there is nothing more rewarding than capturing your friends love.
I liked the fact that Anita and Reto planned their wedding personal and intimate with only a handful of guests. It was a day, where the bride and groom actually could talk, celebrate and had lots and lots of time with all their guests. The buquet held some of my favorite flowers: lily of the valley. It smelled so gorgeous and was perfect for this sunny day in May. The doves were tamed and stayed with the couple and the guests the entire time. The owner is known to be Switzerland’s Dove-Whisperer and instead of just letting them fly away, we learned a bit about these so gentle animals. After dinner there was dancing till late night from the music of the 70s and 80s where DJ Alexander used real, old LP’s.
If there is an invisible bond between two people, if there is that unconditional love, then these two have it. I am very fortunate to know them. So yes, I have been lucky not to have missed capturing this day and of course – I also had the one or other tear in my eye. Weddings are just wonderful!
